In Memory of Janis Timberlake

Janis was such a positive person, and she made a huge difference in so many lives. She was accepting of all types of people and made vibrant communities wherever she went. Janis' strong spirit is definitely with us now. We feel so privileged and honored to have known her as a trusted colleague and close friend. We miss her so much.

We are so sorry for your loss. Janis was the first neighbor we met when we moved in 7 years ago, and she was truly the heart of our little community. Our boys will miss seeing Janis on her neighborhood walks and at her driveway hangouts. I hope all your good memories give you some peace in this sad time.

Terry and I have been friends since high school, so I first met Janis when she was about 11. I am so saddened by her passing. My condolences to you and the whole family.

We served with Janice in the Peace Corps in Senegal in the late 70’s. She embraced the people and the culture of Senegal and went on to make international health her life’s work. Janice was such a kind soul and will be missed by so many. She truly made a difference in this world!

Your Mom was an incredible woman, we are incredibly grateful we got to know her! She will be deeply missed. Praying for you all as you grieve her loss and hoping that time will heal the pain some and the memories will fill your hearts with joy!

I worked with Janis at the Global Health office at the State Department. She was a gem of a person and she made a difference. Janis, rest in peace and you will be so missed.

Janis was a wonderful human being that we truly admired. She was passionate about her family and all she did. We will miss seeing her at family reunions.

Allison, you don’t know me but I feel like I know your family through what Janis shared. Janis and I met as neighbors in Ocean Sands, Corolla, Outer Banks. Meeting Janis meant making an instant friend. We would occasionally meet up with Janis and Michael at Johnny Davis’s Butcher Block - Corolla’s version of Cheers! After we moved back to DC, kept in touch through Facebook. Hearing from her was always a joyful experience. She radiated, she listened, she invested ALL she had in everyone she knew. I was so very saddened to see this sudden and unwelcome news but will always be grateful that I had the opportunity to know her. Reading others’ tributes was beautiful. I happen to believe that our loved ones never leave us. Their spirit lives on in us. I wish that for all of you who she loved so much.
